The Hoffman Estates Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.

Applications are available beginning Monday, September 8, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. until Monday, September 22, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. A $20.00 processing fee (cash or check only) is required and payable when the application is picked up.

Completed applications must be returned to Fire Department Administration at the Village Hall address listed above no later than September 26, 2011 at 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have attained their 21st birthday and be under the age of 35, at the time of the last date for filing applications (September 26, 2011) unless the individual falls under one of the exceptions to the statutory maximum hiring age detailed in 70 ILCS 705/16.06.
  • Have a valid drivers license
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Eyesight shall be at least 20/20 corrected and may not be afflicted with color blindness or any other eye abnormalities at the time of offer of employment.

Testing Specifics

Orientation details:

The Mandatory Orientation and 1.5 Mile Run (Physical Agility Test Phase 1) are scheduled for Sunday, October 5, 2011.

Written exam details:

The Written Examination is scheduled for Sunday, October 12, 2011.

Physical ability details:

The Physical Agility Test Phase 2 is scheduled for Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26, 2011.

A second physical agility test date will be scheduled for October 26, 2011.
